I am very humbled and delighted for the trust you have bestowed upon me. On behalf of myself , my dear wife, Atty./Chief Cordelia Nwokocha and the entire Nwokocha family, we say thank you. Thank you for recognizing that there is time for everything and that the time for the needed change in ICAN is now.
Thank you to all the delegates who supported us during this campaign and those who supported my opponent. You have performed your civic duty for our organization to pick a new leader and other members of the executive. Regardless of who you supported, this is the time for all of us to come together to focus on those things that unite us and abandon those things that will bring division within our rank and files. This election was never a do or die situation for me because I understood from the inception of the campaign that the easiest part of this process is winning and the hardest part will be working hard everyday to provide our organization the strong leadership it deserved.
I hereby thank the out going executive members lead by Engr. Festus Okonkwo and those who served before them. Each and everyone of you have made contributions towards the success of our organization. I sincerely applaud Mazi Ogbogu Achonwa for all his services to ICAN and his loyalty to those who he served under. I have called him and we assured each other that ICAN interest is paramount and no amount of pressure will obscure our collective interest in the success of our organization, ICAN.
As a candidate who campaigned to bring changes in ICAN, I owe it to you to remain calm and focused. Our job in ICAN is not yet over because we have been declared winners. It is still in infant stage. It is the job of the Delegates and every Igbo loving son and daughter to tell me that which no one will care to tell me. It is your job to privately or if necessary openly call me to order when things are no longer proceeding as expected. Knowledge is the most expensive commodity created by God and no human has monopoly of it. I am as human as everyone else, with lots of shortcomings; however, true lovers of ICAN and Igbo affairs to me, are those who will constantly remind me of my short comings and force me to seek redress by all possible means. I expect Ndi Igbo to exercise that right and power.
To the members of the executives that will work with me to pilot the affairs of ICAN, please note that the work ahead is huge and sometimes very scary. Our approach will be to bring everybody along and not create our own clique. We must remain calm and calculative in our approach and chew less than we can swallow. Please ICAN Delegates and members of the DFW Igbo community, continue to be yourself, an open voice and see us impress you more. Let us pray to God for guidance and allow no distraction.
Remain bless.
Atty. Chief Eddy Nnabugwu Nwokocha, Okeosisi
